This Week's Top Race

This week we head to Belmont Park for the $300,000 Mother Goose Stakes and to Hollywood Park for the $150,000 Hollywood Oaks.

The Mother Goose Stakes is a 1 1/16 mile, grade 1 race that's run on dirt for three-year-old thoroughbreds. It's held at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York and Midnight Lucky is the filly to keep an eye on. She's only run in five races, of which she's won four, including her most recent start in the Grade 1 Acorn Stakes. The filly is sired by Midnight Lute who finished in third or better in 11-of-13 races, so Midnight Lucky certainly has the pedigree to make her mark on the horseracing world.

The Hollywood Oaks is a 1 1/16 mile, grade 2 race that's run on a synthetic surface for three-year-olds. It's held annually at Hollywood Park and Fiftyshadesofhay could run away from the pack on race day. This filly struggled to win her Maiden Special Weight race, but since breaking through, she's won or placed in four-of-five races. The filly is trained by Hall of Fame trainer, Bob Baffert, so you know she's in good hands.
